The Bayero University (BUK) has officially released a bulletin, announcing that there will be an increase in the amount payable by students of the academic institution, including school fees for new students (Freshers), and returning students.
According to the Bulletin, there is an increase in the following category:
- Central Registration Fee.
- Administrative and Hostel maintenance charges for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
The Senate Board of Bayero University (BUK), had agreed at its 405th meeting held on Monday, 19th June 2023, to approve an increase in Central registration fee, administrative and hostel maintenance charges fees for both undergraduate students and Postgraduate students.
This new payment will commence for the current academic session, which is the 2022/2023 academic session for all students.

According to the new school fees approved by the institution’s senate, students from the Faculty of Clinical Sciences (MBBS) and Dentistry will have to pay higher in the undergraduate category, with N160,000 as fees for returning students, and N170,000 for newly admitted (fresh) students.
While the school fee for all newly admitted Nursing students is N220,500 while returning nursing students are required to pay N197,500.
This also affects an entire faculty, as the Faculty of Education, newly admitted students will pay between N137,500 and N138,500 (depending on your course within the Education Faculty), while returning students will pay between N132,500 and N138,500.
Students to pay the cheapest are those from the following faculties:
- Faculties of Arts and Islamic Studies,
- Faculty of Law,
- Management Sciences
- Social Sciences.
For returning students in the above-listed faculties school fees are N97,000. While Freshers (newly admitted) students will pay N105,000.
Returning students from Faculties of Computer Science, Communications, Earth and Environmental Sciences will also pay N100,000, while fresh students will pay N110,000.
According to the Bayero University management board, the fee for inter-university transfers is now N150,000 while the form for the transfer will cost students a whooping N20,000.
This hike also affects the amount graduates are required to pay for their certificates. Here’s a breakdown of the certificate prices for BUK graduates.
- N12,000 for undergraduates,
- N20,000 for Postgraduates.
- N25,000 for MSC and PhD.

In addition to the increase in BUK’s tuition fees, the university has also specified accommodation costs for students who will be staying in Hostels. Undergraduate students without beds and mattresses will pay N37,590 for hostel accommodation. Whereas female students with beds and mattresses have been asked to pay the sum of N80,090. Male students with beds and mattresses are required to pay a total of N57,590 only on an annual basis.
